Oneida Nation Homelands – Ray Halbritter, Oneida Nation Representative and CEO of Nation Enterprises, is on his way toward adding another title to his already-impressive resume; PGA of America golf professional.
Halbritter has passed the PGA Player Ability Test, the first stage of becoming a PGA member. The accomplishment means he is now registered as a PGA apprentice.
Halbritter demonstrated his golfing prowess by carding rounds of 79-73 at Stoneybrook Golf Club in Estero, Fla. The grueling, one-day test hosted by the South Florida Section of the PGA required players to navigate the course for 36 holes from the Blue Tees. Halbritter’s 152-stroke total was two shots better than the passing target score of 154.
According to the PGA, less than 20 percent of those taking the test achieve a passing score. Halbritter accomplished the feat in his first attempt.
As a PGA apprentice, Halbritter is now eligible to enter the PGA Golf Management Program, ultimately leading to the distinction of a PGA club professional.
As CEO of Oneida Nation Enterprises, Halbritter has presided over the rise of Turning Stone as a premier golf destination featuring three championship golf courses, two nine-hole options, a golf dome and golf academy. The resort has won accolades from several major golf and travel publications, including Golfweek, Golf World, Golf Digest, GOLF Magazine, Robb Report, Travel & Leisure, Golf Odyssey and Celebrated Living.
Turning Stone’s Atunyote Golf Club, designed by Tom Fazio, is host venue of the Turning Stone Resort Championship, an official PGA TOUR event. The 2010 edition is scheduled for Aug. 2-8.
