Fritz’s Polka Band Nominated for National Award

(Verona) Jagermeister-sponsored, Fritz’s Polka Band (FPB) from Verona, New York has been nominated for a National Award by the National Cleveland-Style Polka Hall of Fame in Euclid, Ohio. FPB’s original song, ‘Please Don’t Wait ‘Til Tomorrow,’ which is written by Fred Scherz Sr., and is on the group’s latest recording, “Reflections,” which was released on May 30, 2008, is up for the New Original Polka or Waltz award. The winner will be announced at the Crystal Awards Show XXI, held at the Slovenian National Home at 6409 St. Clair Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio on Saturday, November 28th at 2pm.
“We just found out that ‘Please Don’t Wait ‘Til Tomorrow’ has been nominated, and we’re so excited,” said Fritz Scherz, band leader of Fritz’s Polka Band. “The Cleveland-Style Polka Hall of Fame receives many entries each year from so many polka bands. So, to even get nominated is a thrill! Personally, I’m really happy because it’s a tune my Dad wrote! We want to thank all our fans, the Cleveland-Style Polka Hall of Fame, the media, and of course our great sponsor Jagermeister for making this nomination possible!”

Fritz’s Polka Band has been performing for over 30 years, and made history in 1999, when they became the first polka band to perform at a Woodstock Festival in Rome, NY. On September 15, 2007, FPB made history again by becoming the first polka band to perform at the Metropolitan Club in New York City. FPB has made 16 recordings. FPB even appears on “The Manchurian Candidate” DVD which was released in July 2004. FPB previously won a Just Plain Folks Music Award in the Best Polka Song category for Bialczak’s Polka on November 4, 2006. In November 2008, FPB won an Upper State Independent Award in Syracuse, NY, in the International Category. In June 2009, Fritz’s Polka Band won their first ever Syracuse Area Music Award (SAMMY) in the Best Recording: Other Styles category for their “Reflections” recording.
