Fritz’s Polka Band Releases 17th Recording

Fritz’s Polka Band Releases 17th Recording thumbnail

(Verona, NY) Jagermeister-sponsored, Fritz’s Polka Band (FPB), from Verona, NY released their 17th recording “Tribute” on Sunday, October 18, 2009.  “Tribute,” which is a special recording dedicated to Veterans, was produced by FPB’s sponsor, Jagermeister, and features five original FPB songs.  “Tribute” was recorded in April 2009 at Tuffy’s Barn in Sangerfield, NY.

“The guys in Fritz’s Polka Band are excited about releasing this specially-themed new recording,” said Fritz Scherz, band leader of FPB.  “The opening cut, ‘Come Home Safe’ was written by me with my friend, Mike Bolton in mind, as at the time of writing the song, he was on his fifth tour of Iraq.  The ballad ‘Tribute’ was written by my Dad in memory of Corporal John P. Sigsbee who was killed in Iraq on January 16, 2008.  Earlier this year, my band had the honor and privilege to perform the song ‘Tribute’ at the Corporal John P. Sigsbee Post Office dedication in Waterville, NY.  The CD itself won’t be for sale.  Rather, they’ll be given out free to fan club members.  Of course, anyone is welcome to join the Fritz’s Polka Band fan club.  Even though a couple of the tunes are sad and touching, we’re hopeful people will enjoy listening to the CD as much as we enjoyed recording it.  We know our Veterans gave a lot, and this is just a small way of us saying thanks!”

Fritz’s Polka Band has been performing for over 31 years, and made history in 1999, when they became the first polka band to perform at a Woodstock Festival in Rome, NY.

On September 15, 2007, FPB made history again by becoming the first polka band to perform at the Metropolitan Club in New York City.  FPB has now made 17 recordings.  FPB even appears on “The Manchurian Candidate” DVD which was released in July 2004.  FPB previously won a Just Plain Folks Music Award in the Best Polka Song category for Bialczak’s Polka on November 4, 2006.  In November 2008, FPB won an Upper State Independent Award in Syracuse, NY, in the International Category.  In June 2009, Fritz’s Polka Band won their first ever Syracuse Area Music Award (SAMMY) in the Best Recording:  Other Styles category for their “Reflections” recording.
