(Verona, NY) Jagermeister-sponsored, Fritz’s Polka Band (FPB), from Verona, NY and former 2008 presidential contender, Governor Mike Huckabee jammed together on October 27, 2009 at the Conservative Party Recognition Dinner in Liverpool, NY. FPB and Huckabee played the tune ‘Old Time Rock and Roll’ together and received a rousing standing ovation.
“The guys in Fritz’s Polka Band were excited to not only jam with a former 2008 presidential contender, but also delighted that he used my bass player’s (Gabe Vaccaro) bass guitar,” said Fritz Scherz, band leader of FPB. “He was very gracious to us, and before we played, he even thanked me for letting him perform with my band! Talk about a classy guy! Prior to jamming, we presented him with a 2008 as well as our 2009 CD (which is dedicated to our Veterans), as well as a 2009 FPB tour shirt, as we were truly honored to jam with him. I’d like to publicly thank Scott Chatfield, Chuck Mancabelli, and of course Julie Miller for making it possible to have Governor Huckabee jam with us. Julie first contacted me about performing months ago and we truly appreciate it. Many thanks! I just wish my Dad would’ve been healthy enough to perform with us, as he’s bravely battling liver cancer.”
