(Utica, NY) On Saturday, December 19, at 12:00 PM the distribution phase of the “Stuff the Bus” toy drive will begin when the toy filled bus is driven to the Adirondack Bank parking lot located at Genesee and Elizabeth Streets in Utica. Toy drive sponsors will recognize the community’s support, then the bus will be driven to the processing location for unloading.
“Thousands of toys have been collected since late November and now it is time to give them all away”, said Phil Hayne, United Way Executive Director. “The Rescue Mission in Utica along with our partners the Neighborhood Center, Catholic Charities and the Salvation Army in Utica, Rome and Herkimer will ensure the toys go to area families in need, before December 25”, Hayne stated.
Area families in need can contact one of the above named agencies and will be directed to one that has been assigned to process toy requests and other family services for their geographic location. “In addition to toys there could be more pressing family needs that can be addressed simultaneously. Connie Marcus and the Catholic Charities team has been involved in the past with toy distributions of this size and they are prepared,” Hayne said. “The United Way is delighted to be a part of this great outpouring of support from the community, and we know this will lead to a lot of happiness for many children.”
The “Stuff the Bus” toy drive was made possible by area gift donations and sponsored by KISS FM, WKTV, Fidelis Care, AmeriCU Federal Credit Union and Birnie Bus. The event is free and open to the public.
