Phi Beta Lambda collects 150 toys for area youth

The Phi Beta Lambda Chapter at Mohawk Valley Community College collected more than 150 toys and $500 for the “Holly Days – Christmas For Children” toy drive. This is the second year that Phi Beta Lambda organized a toy drive.

Toys were donated on the Utica and Rome campuses then presented to members of Holly Days, a charitable organization based in Ilion for the purpose of distributing Christmas items throughout Oneida, Herkimer and parts of Otsego Counties in the Mohawk Valley.

Phi Beta Lambda is the Business Club at MVCC.

Presenting the toys to representatives of Holly Days were student Megan Fitzgerald, president of Phi Beta Lambda, and MVCC Instructor Robert Huyck, an advisor to the club.

“This is a big thing to make sure that every kid has a present under the tree on Christmas morning no matter what the family’s financial situation is,” said Huyck.

Representing Holly Days were Howard Culver and Mike Caporale.
