(Utica – Nov. 19, 2009) The Peacemaker Program, Inc. recently honored several dedicated community members for their passion and commitment to serving the children and families of the Mohawk Valley.

The following awards were presented the program’s Volunteer Recognition and Special Awards event, held Wednesday, Nov. 18 at Daniele’s at Valley View in Utica:

Special Honoree – Jawwaad A. Rasheed of Rome

Attorney for the Child of the Year – John Amuso, Esq. of Clinton

Executive Director’s Award – Sue Warwick of Whitesboro

 The Peacemaker Program Board of Directors and volunteers were also recognized for their outstanding service to the organization throughout the past year. The Peacemaker Program has more than 500 devoted volunteers that help carry out its mission every day.

 “Our volunteers are critical to helping people work through conflict, advocating for medical treatment for the disabled and ensuring the best possible outcomes for neglected and abused children,” said Brenda Episcopo, Peacemaker Program executive director. “With a small staff of 11, and 500 volunteers, we are serving 2,700 members of our community every year.  We appreciate all that our volunteers do and always have need for more.”
