$2,000 in Scholarships to be Drawn
(Utica, NY – Feb. 3, 2010) Notre Dame Junior-Senior High School will open its doors to the community on Wednesday, Feb. 3, for the school’s annual open house. Those attending will also be eligible for scholarship drawings.
The Open House provides prospective students and their families with an opportunity to visit the Notre Dame campus and meet current students, faculty, and staff. The event is free and open to the public.
The event will begin at 7 p.m. with guest registration and welcoming remarks by Sister Anna Mae Collins, CSJ, principal. When asked why families should choose Notre Dame, Collins replied, “Notre Dame provides an excellent academic program in a safe and productive learning environment that reflects Christian values.” Collins continued, “Notre Dame is very proud of its 100 percent graduation rate, with 100 percent of our graduates continuing on to college nearly every year. Our recent class valedictorians have studied at the University of Notre Dame, Syracuse University and Colgate University.”
A variety of activities are planned for the evening. Current 7th grade and NJROTC students will provide guided tours of Notre Dame where guests will have an opportunity to meet faculty and learn first-hand about Notre Dame’s academic programs. In addition, booths will be available to acquaint guests with Notre Dame’s student clubs, activities, and athletic programs. The evening’s itinerary also includes performances by Notre Dame’s cheerleaders, NJROTC, and the praise and worship band. Guidance counselors will be available for questions and financial aid information will be available. Principal Collins encouraged any interested family to apply for financial aid, since more than 65 percent of Notre Dame’s students receive scholarships and/or financial assistance. Attendees who complete registrations for the 2010 – 2011 academic year at the Open House will be eligible for a scholarship drawing for four $500 scholarships.
Established in 1960 by the Xaverian Brothers, Notre Dame Junior-Senior High School is located on Notre Dame Lane, adjacent to Burrstone Road, in Utica. Open to young men and young women of all faiths and backgrounds, Notre Dame is dedicated to developing the academic, spiritual, and social gifts of its students. Notre Dame’s academic program complies with all New York State Regents requirements.
