(Utica, NY) Assemblywoman RoAnn M. Destito (D/WF-Rome) today announced that several municipalities and organizations have received funding to improve the management of records and important documents. The grants from the New York State Archives help agencies survey and inventory records; improve electronic filing systems; develop disaster preparedness plans; to microfilm and index records; and for historical, documentation, and educational projects.
“In many cases, local governments are still using records on paper that may be in poor condition,” Destito said. “These grants will allow local governments and organizations to develop electronic filing systems and to better manage their records. In many cases, these records provide information on land sales and other important transactions that need to be documented and preserved.”
Destito says the following organizations and local governments in the 116th Assembly District are receiving funding from the New York State Archives Grants Program:
