(Utica, NY) Congressman Michael Arcuri (D-24) is scheduled to appear at the Oneida County Historical Society on Saturday, October 10th, as a participant in the society’s program, titled “The Influence of Immigrants in Utica: A Panel Discussion”. This special program starts at 1:00PM in the society’s main exhibit gallery.
In addition to Congressman Arcuri, historian Frank Tomaino will discuss the influx of immigrants to Utica during the 19th and early 20th centuries. Author Mario Fumarola will describe his new book, Immigrants All!!!, which relates his experience growing up in Utica’s ethnic Italian community during the 1940s and 1950s.
Additionally, a representative from the Mohawk Valley Resource Center for Refugees is scheduled to discuss the current refugee situation in Utica, and the impact that these more recent ethnic groups have had on the community.
The Oneida County Historical Society is located at 1608 Genesee Street in Utica. Admission to this special event is free, although donations are encouraged. All exhibit galleries will remain open during this event.
