State Police arrest Rome Man for Sexual Assault of a 3 year-old Child

(Marcy, NY - December 23, 2009) - On December 22, 2009, the New York State Police and members of the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center investigating an alleged sexual offense committed against a child charged 55 year-old, Shawn M. Ferris Sr, of 219 South James Street in Rome NY, with Predatory sexual assault against a child, an “A-II” felony.

Ferris was arrested following an incident in which he subjected a three-year-old female to sexual contact. He was arraigned in the City of Rome Court and remanded to the Oneida County jail on no bail until his next scheduled appearance in the City of Rome Court on December 24, 2009 @ 10:00 AM to answer the charge. The child will receive services thru the Child Advocacy Center.

Assisting in the investigation were members of the City of Rome Police Department.

The case will be turned over to the Oneida County District Attorney’s Office for determination of grand jury action.
