(Clinton – Nov. 30) Dr. Julietta Hua, professor of women and gender studies at San Francisco State University, will present a lecture titled “Cleaning Up After Human Trafficking: ‘Cleaning Lady’ and the Politics of Representation” on Monday, Nov. 30, at 5 p.m. in the Science Center, room G041 at Hamilton College. The event is sponsored by the Dean of Faculty, The Kirkland Endowment Fund, Asian Studies Program, Women’s Studies and the Diversity Initiatives Fund. The lecture is free and open to the public.
Hua’s areas of interest include feminist theory, human rights and global feminism, Asian American Studies and the implications of the politics of difference in the post-Civil Rights, post-Cold War Era. Her major current project examines U.S. women’s human rights discourse and the production of categories like “Third World Women” and “feminism” at the turn of the millennium.
