(Camden, NY) Caption: Assemblyman David Townsend (R,WF-Sylvan Beach) joined staff and a group of eager story listeners recently when he dropped by the Camden Methodist Church to read Maurice Sendak’s “Where the Wild Things Are” to a Mohawk Valley Community Action Agency (MVCAA) Head Start class. The book, a classic tale of imagination, love, and friendship featuring Max, a mischievous child who travels to the land of the Wild Things, has been treasured by both children and parents since it was originally released in 1963. The event took place on October 14.
“I was delighted to read to the children,” said Townsend. “They had a lot of great questions about the book and I was pleased that everyone seemed to enjoy the story. After all, Max’s character eventually misses his mother and returns home in time for a warm supper – something we can all appreciate.”
