(Holland Patent, NY) Assemblyman Dave Townsend (R,WF-Sylvan Beach) will join local dignitaries, representatives from the Rome Marine Corps League, and more than 50 warriors from Camp Lejeune’s Lima Company to dedicate the “Marine Lance Cpl. Blaise Oleski Memorial Highway” marker on Veterans Day, Wednesday, November 11 at 10 a.m. near the Village of Holland Patent Middle School. The memorial plaque, which will stand permanently on state Route 365, was made possible through legislation Townsend sponsored in the New York State Assembly. Oleski was killed in action on April 8 while supporting combat operations in Now Zad, Afghanistan. The new roadway name will be ceremonial and does not require the state to officially redesignate the existing highway.
“Blaise dedicated his life to upholding the best ideals of our country,” said Townsend. “On Veterans Day, we honor the service of Marine Lance Cpl. Blaise Oleski and we dedicate a place to his lasting memory.”
