Bow Hunter Dies While Hunting

Bow Hunter Dies While Hunting thumbnail

(Augusta, NY) On November 18, 2009 at approximately 1:15 p.m., the New York State Police and Vernon Center Fire Department responded to State Route 26 in the town of Augusta, Oneida County, New York for a hunter found deceased in the woods.

Troopers from SP Waterville and members of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Marcy located Terry W. Leunberger, age 43, of Oliver Road, Oriskany Falls deceased underneath his tree stand. The initial investigation has revealed that Leunberger apparently fell from his tree stand while bow hunting.

An autopsy is scheduled for November 19, 2009 to determine the exact cause and manner of the death.
