Madison County Courier To Be Used As Movie Prop

M3P Media, LLC, has signed a release for its new publication, Madison County Courier, to be used as prop or set dressing for the highly anticipated movie “Knockout.”

“We are thrilled to be a very small part of a very big movie,” said Mike Bova, publisher of M3P Media, LLC.

According to promoters, the film stars mixed martial arts fighter Gina Carano as Mallory Kane, a young, tough, beautiful freelance covert operative. She is hired out by her handler, Kenneth, to various global entities to perform jobs that governments can’t authorize and heads of state would rather not know about. For all her looks and youth, Mallory is still the best in her field, and her skills are in constant demand.

After a mission to rescue a hostage in Barcelona, Kenneth quickly dispatches Mallory on another mission to Dublin. There she partners with another operative, the suave and debonair Paul. When the operation goes awry and Mallory finds she has been double-crossed, she needs to use all of her skills, tricks and abilities to escape an international manhunt, make it back to the United States, protect her family and exact revenge on those that have betrayed her.

According to information on IMDb.com, producers have signed actors Michael Douglas, Antonio Banderas, Ewen McGregor and Channing Tatum, to name a few.

Knockout, which is filming now, is being directed by Steven Soderbergh, who also directed “Erin Brockovich” and “Ocean’s Eleven.”

The movie is expected to be released sometime next year.

NYSP arrest Utica man for a Burglary in the Town of Western

(Town of Western, NY – January 25, 2010) State Police in Marcy arrested 57 yr old Brent S. Blair from Utica, NY for Burglary 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of Burglar’s tools. The arrest stems from a complaint received in December 2009 when a resident in the Town of Western returned to his residence to find a male subject inside his residence and later realized that the subject had stolen property from inside.

Blair was arraigned in the town of Western court and remanded to the Oneida County Jail in lieu of $40,000 cash/bond bail and is scheduled to reappear in the town of Western court on January 26, 2010 at 5:30 p.m.

United Way Celebration held today

(Utica, NY – Jan. 20, 2010) United Way invites the entire region to a community-wide celebration of the 2009 Campaign. The event will be held in the lobby of M &T Bank at 233 Genesee Street at 5:00 PM on Wednesday January 20. Attendees can park in the lot behind the building.

“This was a community-wide effort, and we want everyone to come and celebrate this remarkable achievement with us,” said John Hobika, Jr., the 2009 Campaign Chair.

The event kicks off at 5:00PM and includes great food, lots of recognition, music from Monk Rowe, and a special performance by Danceworks.

The event is open to the entire public and attendees can call 733-4691 ext 223 for reservations. The cost is $15 and can be paid at the door

Rome man arrested for Criminal Mischief

On Sept. 30, the New York State Police from Sylvan Beach arrested Dominick Lorenzoni 37, of 108 South Doxtator St., Rome for third-degree Criminal Mischief. The arrest stemmed from a complaint of Lorenzoni destroying property at his mother’s home in the outer district of Rome. Lorenzoni was arraigned before the Town of Western Court Judge Donahue, and was remanded to the Oneida County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bail.
