M3P Media, LLC, has signed a release for its new publication, Madison County Courier, to be used as prop or set dressing for the highly anticipated movie “Knockout.”

“We are thrilled to be a very small part of a very big movie,” said Mike Bova, publisher of M3P Media, LLC.

According to promoters, the film stars mixed martial arts fighter Gina Carano as Mallory Kane, a young, tough, beautiful freelance covert operative. She is hired out by her handler, Kenneth, to various global entities to perform jobs that governments can’t authorize and heads of state would rather not know about. For all her looks and youth, Mallory is still the best in her field, and her skills are in constant demand.

After a mission to rescue a hostage in Barcelona, Kenneth quickly dispatches Mallory on another mission to Dublin. There she partners with another operative, the suave and debonair Paul. When the operation goes awry and Mallory finds she has been double-crossed, she needs to use all of her skills, tricks and abilities to escape an international manhunt, make it back to the United States, protect her family and exact revenge on those that have betrayed her.

According to information on IMDb.com, producers have signed actors Michael Douglas, Antonio Banderas, Ewen McGregor and Channing Tatum, to name a few.

Knockout, which is filming now, is being directed by Steven Soderbergh, who also directed “Erin Brockovich” and “Ocean’s Eleven.”

The movie is expected to be released sometime next year.

Senate approves bill honoring Oneida County native Lance Corporal Blaise Oleski who was killed in action

Assemblyman David Townsend (R,WF-Sylvan Beach) announced that his sponsored legislation designating a local portion of state highway Route 365 as the “Marine Lance Cpl. Blaise Oleski Memorial Highway” has been passed by the New York State Legislature. The bill would name a portion of Route 365 running through the Village of Holland Patent after Oleski, an Oneida County resident who was killed in action on April 8 while supporting combat operations in Now Zad, Afghanistan. The name will be ceremonial and does not require the state to officially redesignate the existing highway.

Blaise A. Oleski was born July 31, 1986, in Rome, NY, a son of Paul J. and Theresa D’Angelo Oleski, and graduated from Holland Patent High School in 2004. He was a Marine infantry assaultman who enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 2006, assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 8th Marine Expeditionary Force, based at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He served a tour in Iraq followed by a tour in Afghanistan earlier this year.

“Blaise dedicated his life to upholding the best ideals of our country,” said Townsend. “He would eventually sacrifice his life for those ideals, as well as the friendship and loyalty owed to his fellow Marines. War is rarely without tragedy, but we must do our best to honor the memories of those who protect our freedoms by fighting them; with this legislation, we acknowledge the special debt owed to Blaise and his family. As Shakespeare wrote of the king’s slain warrior son in ‘Macbeth’:

He only lived but till he was a man;

The which no sooner had his prowess confirm’d

In the unshrinking station where he fought,

But like a man he died.”

The measure has been returned to the Assembly after being approved by the Senate. It will then be delivered to Governor David Paterson.
