Townsend Announces Waterfront Protection Funds for Sylvan Beach

Lawmaker secures $346,615 Local Waterfront Revitalization Program grant for village

(Sylvan Beach, NY) Assemblyman David Townsend (R,WF-Sylvan Beach) today announced an appropriation of $346,615 from the state Environmental Protection Fund’s Local Waterfront Revitalization Program for the Village of Sylvan Beach. The award will be used to fund a project addressing beach erosion and shoreline stabilization. Half of the total project cost will be covered by these state funds.

“When it comes to our natural resources, New York State is a land of abundance. Our waterways include 70,000 miles of rivers and streams, 4,000 lakes and ponds, and 2.4 million acres of wetlands,” said Townsend. “Communities develop along with their resources. In this spirit I am proud to announce the latest Local Waterfront Revitalization Program grant. The Sylvan Beach project will include survey and site preparation activities, installation, and post-construction landscaping. This is a great day for both conservation and economic development in our community.”
