Statement from Dave Townsend on State of State Address

(Sylvan Beach, NY – Jan. 6, 2010) “Philosopher George Santayana observed that those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it,” said Assemblyman David Townsend (R,WF-Sylvan Beach).

“All New Yorkers should keep this in mind following today’s mostly positive State of the State address from Governor Paterson. He spoke well of the need for fiscal reform, and outlined ethics measures to reduce an unprecedented level of corruption in state government. But action must match words, and if his past performance is any guide, this governor must overcome a leadership deficit as well as a financial one to truly bring about real change.”
